What’s Included In A Spring Clean Up?

Christen Barber April 20, 2016

Spring is officially here! While spring brings the promise of warmer weather, spring break and summer vacation in the next few months, it’s also the perfect time to start thinking about your lawn care and lawn maintenance needs for the upcoming season. However, prior to getting started on a regular lawn care and maintenance package, we highly recommend a spring clean up. A spring clean up is a necessary first step towards a beautiful, green lawn and immaculate yard. If you’ve never hired a company to complete a spring clean up on your property, we wanted to share a breakdown of the standard services we provide to our customers. We want to be sure that you have the facts to be able to compare service providers and understand what type of services you should expect when hiring a professional lawn care and maintenance company.

Clean Up of Entire Property

Although this may sound like a no-brainer, it is often overlooked. During a spring clean up, the whole property gets cleaned up. Although you think not much is happening during the winter months, there are often weeds and other debris, including leaves and even garbage, that have accumulated throughout the winter that must be removed. With those unwanted items removed, the property is left with a fresh, clean look that’s ready to take on the fresh start that spring provides.

Redefine Plant Beds

The winter months can be harsh on bed lines. Each spring the bed lines need to be redefined. Redefining the bed lines allows for the mulch to meet the sod and create that fine line between lawn and bed that creates the crisp, finished look at the start of the season to be maintained all season long.

Fertilize All Plants and Shrubs

During the spring clean up is when we fertilize all plants and shrubs on the property. The best time to fertilize during the spring season before new mulch is installed - adding the fertilizer right to the soil around the roots. Fertilization during the spring clean up gives the plants a jump start for the season and provides a consistent time to fertilize each year.

New Mulch Installation

Once all of the weeds and debris are removed and fertilizer is applied, we install new mulch to complete the spring clean up for a fresh and clean look. For us, there’s just something about the bright green grass and buds on trees combined with fresh mulch that makes us happy throughout the spring season. And, we’ll admit, it’s tough to make a property look better than it does in the spring right after a clean up.

A spring clean up service gives your lawn and property a head start into the rest of the season to ensure it maintains its beauty all season long. Now is the time to schedule your spring clean up - so why not leave the dirty work to us? Give us a call at 609.861.5050 today or contact us for a free estimate.

Top 5 Reasons Every Property Needs a Spring Clean Up

Christen Barber March 9, 2015

Spring is almost here (although the snow on the ground might tell another story) and that means its time for your annual spring clean up. Although sunshine and Mother Nature do a great job of enhancing the natural beauty of your landscaping in spring, its important to remember that intentional care and maintenance can go a long way to give Mother Nature a bit of assistance.

We believe spring doesn’t really start until the spring clean ups are done – leaving beautiful yards ready to reach their full spring and summer potential. But, if you don’t want to take our word and years of experience under consideration, here are the top 5 reasons why every property (even yours!) needs a spring clean up.

Winter Debris Removal

With the winter like we’ve had here in South Jersey, it’s a necessity to remove the debris that have piled up over the winter months during the spring clean up. In an effort to improve the overall cleanliness of the property, we take the time to remove leaves, trash and weeds that have accumulated and show themselves once the snow has melted and the winds have died down.

Lawn Dethatching

Spring is the perfect time to dethatch your lawn to ensure removal of leaves, thatch and other debris. Removing those items from your lawn allows for fertilizers and chemical treatments to reach the soil to ensure a thick, lush and green lawn for spring and summer.  Also, the removal of thatch reduces the amount of media in which many turf diseases thrive.

Fertilizing All Plant Material

The rain and sunshine of spring give the perfect natural elements to combine with nutrient-rich fertilizers to ensure all the plant material in your yard is healthy and at it’s best for the coming seasons. Fertilizing during the spring clean up allows plants to reach their full potential and allows us to correct any potential PH issues or nutrient deficiencies in the soil to ensure a beautiful yard.

Edging

During the spring clean up make sure time is taken to edge bed lines as well as all walkways, driveways and stepping stones.  Edging creates clean lines that can be maintained all season long for a well-manicured property.

New Mulch Installation

Nothing creates a cleaner, more polished look than installation of fresh, new mulch. Not only does new mulch create a clean and finished look, but it also acts as a weed barrier and protects the soil to prevent loss of nutrients. Along with freshly edged beds, new mulch puts the finishing touches on every spring clean up.

As you can see from the above list, spring clean ups are essential to laying a solid foundation for a beautiful, lush and green property all season long.

Every property, big or small, deserves a great start to the season and we’d love to add you to our list. Give us a call at 609-861-5050 or contact us to schedule a free in-home estimate.
